Fashion Friday: Chevron

I love, love, love a good Chevron print.  It's intriguing, yet simple.  It's modern, yet classic.  It works great as an accent piece for an outfit or room, or as the main focal point.

The chevron print adds a modern feel to an otherwise traditional room.

Simple accent.

Can't talk about chevron without talking about Missoni.

Two trends in one.  Chevron and ombre.

 Great accent wall.

I love everything about this look.

Since a chevron print is so simple, you can pair it with other prints.

A simple dress.  This would look great with a black leather jacket, black tights and boots for day.  Take off the jacket and add black pumps for day to night.

Another example of two and one incorporating chevron and sequins.  And gold and black chevron?  I die for this dress!

Fashion Friday- Neon!

I'm obsessed with neon colors right now, especially neon pink and neon yellow.  It can be used as a simple pop of color in a bag or pair of shoes, or it can make a big statement with either color blocking or a simple dress.  My favorite aspect of neon colors, it makes me look super tan! (which is saying a lot).

So many different ways to wear this trend.  What's your favorite way?

Fashion Friday- Faux Fur

Winter weather has finally arrived in Colorado so it's time to break out the winter wear.  One of my favorite trends is faux fur vests (I think jackets are a little overboard).  I'll admit, I have yet to take the faux fur plunge but it's because I haven't found the perfect piece.  However, this post (and the snow on the ground) is inspiring me to continue my hunt.

How comfy and cozy do these look?!  I now understand why my friend's sister considers her faux fur pieces her "comfy clothing."  I personally choose men's sweat pants, but maybe I'll improve my lounge wear.  Never know when prince charming might come knocking.

Original post here. This is how I would do faux fur!

This is from Quiksilver.  Buy it here!

I love the different textures of the vest and blouse.

From Topshop.  Get it here.  I could live in this!

Love this look from Sydney

Sidenote:  Please don't wear real fur.  Animals are truly tortured all in the name of fashion.

Fashion Friday - Brown Riding Boots

I'm still not sure if riding boots are a super specific style, but either way I'm going with it.  We can also call them knee high boots if that's more your style.  Anyway, brown boots have been on my "fashion-must-have" list for awhile now, but couldn't find the right ones.  Well, this week I found them!

They are Unity by Carlos Santana and I found them at Famous Footwear.  You can also find them here, but they're more expensive.
Anyway, I love the color and the buckle detailing.  They're also a bit slouchy so they fit well over skinny jeans.
Sydney over at The Daybook Blog inspired me to get brown boots after seeing her pair them with black.  I was always anti-brown/black mixing, until I saw her doing it.  I guess that makes me a follower, but oh well!
Yesterday I wore my new boots with, wait for it, BLACK leggings!  And I loved it.  And today's outfit includes some black and these boots.  I'm a new person!
Anywho, here are some inspiration looks for you if you were scared like me about pairing brown boots with black!

I have all the pieces to make this come to life!

I love olive green!

Great casual outfit for winter!

Great colors for fall!

I love all of the layering!

In other news, I will be moving back to Denver at the end of this month to hopefully pursue my Master's degree.  Cheers to new adventures, including pairing brown and black!

Fashion Friday - Fringe

So for this week's installment of "Fashion Friday," I'm loving fringe!  Bags, purses, shirts, vests, I love it all!  It's so hippy chic, and adds movement to any outfit.  I've been loving this trend for awhile, but just this week picked up my first fringe item.  It's a black t-shirt with a tribal print on the front, and fringe along the bottom.  So cute and easy to wear.

That's the other thing about fringe, it's so easy to wear.  The fringe instantly adds interest to your outfit so you don't really need to do a lot of accessorizing.  The other thing, is I would keep the number of fringe pieces per outfit to a minimum.  One is probably sufficient!  Don't go overboard people!

This bag has a hippy/western feel and I love it!  This would be great with jeans and a t-shirt and riding boots.

These fringe on these Louboutins is very subtle, but fabulous nonetheless!

I love this look.  So bohemian!

This is similar to my shirt. You can get this shirt from Urban Outfitters

Gotta include newlywed Kim K!  Even though this is so casual, the fringe makes it fun and chic. You can get this Sam and Lavi sweatshirt here.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!  Hard to believe summer is almost over!
I'm gonna go enjoy the sunshine and show off my fringe!

Fashion Friday - High waist jeans

Ok, ok so I know it's Saturday and I'm a day late, but better late than never right?  High waist jeans are "on-trend" right now and I think they are so fun.  Whenever certain trends come back around, my mom always says something like, "That's what I was wearing when I was your age."  Since this is such a new trend, it's one that has to look just right otherwise you'll get people saying "What was she thinking? It's not 1975."  I for one am very reluctant to actually wear a pair of high waist jeans.  It is something that is either so right, or so wrong (i.e. Jessica Simpson's mom jeans).  Being that I am a relatively curly girl (when it comes to my derriere at least) high waist jeans scare me because it could make me look incredibly bottom heavy.

I think these work on Kim because they are skinny jeans emphasizing her waist rather than making her look bottom heavy.  The buttons also bring her waist in.

I love the simplicity of this look.

I love how she paired them with stilettos making the look feminine

How NOT to do high waist jeans.  This is what I imagine would happen if I wore high waist jeans, but I guess I should give 'em a shot!
